The Humanities Accelerator Course (HAC) Launch Module is designed to introduce students to the course goals, structure, and the four core tenets — identity, community, literacy, and criticality — to build a strong learning community with their peers.

Providing high-quality, engaging, and relevant texts is a critical component of literacy instruction. The resources below will help you analyze the complexity of a given text and will support you as you consider the intersections of your own identities, the identities of your students, and related considerations for complexity, academic success, cultural competence, and critical consciousness.

Professional learning module to support understanding of planning and instruction aligned to college- and career-ready  (CCR) standards for ELA/literacy through the observation of a lesson and analysis of a lesson plan and student work samples.

1. Complexity: Practice regularly with complex text and its academic language.

2. Evidence: Ground reading, writing, and speaking in evidence from text, both literary and informational.

3. Knowledge: Build knowledge through content-rich nonfiction.
